I'm going to sharing some of my political views. I still don't know everything about all the issues but this is what I think so far.
IDEOLOGY:
I believe a third-party system would be better than what we have now. Some of my positions are libertarian leanings. I also believe Instant-Runoff Voting, Campaign Finance Reform, and Electoral Reform are ways of improves our political system.
WAR ON TERRORISM:
I don't believe military expansion is not the overall solution. I believe pulling out of Germany and Japan would be a good start. I do believe there were bad policies that were made in conducting the War in Iraq and pulling out soon would be the right move. I am against war profiteering, and ending military defense contract welfare.
FEDERAL LAWS:
On certain Federal Laws, I favor repealing the Bankruptcy Act of 2005; the Republican congress and the Bush Administration made a stupid mistake in hiring credit card companies to write the bill. Ending the Energy Policy Act of 2005; it gives billions of dollors to oil companies - like that'll solve polution. I want like to see the HMO Act of 1973 revoked; because it's a waste of tax-payer dollars being spent on insurance companies, and repealing Medicare Part D because it does the same thing as the HMO Act. And lastly, we need to overturn the Financial Services Modernization Act of 1999 and bring back the Banking Act of 1933; so that way there can be oversight on the financial system.
Civil Liberties:
I favor ending the War on Drugs. It's also a waste of tax-payer dollars, and it makes criminals rich; and taxing cannabis would create new revenue. I believe ending government marriage would solve the endless culture war fight on gay marriage; I do favor repealing "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" because it's none of my business if gays want to join the military; and I do support the Crimes Bill because gays, along with gender, race, color, and religion deserve the same protection. On the issue of abortion...it's complicated right now; there are three concerns I have about abortion; 1.) Back-ally abortions 2.) Late-term abortions 3.) How pro-life groups and pro-choice groups treat each other. I think part of solving the abortion issue would be through Comprehensive Sex Education; that way students are taught about abstinance and contraception, and are giving all sides of this complex issue. I do believe in States' rights for some issues: Stem-Cell Research, Dignity-in-Death, Prostitution, Gambling, and Public Education. I am against the death penalty because DNA evidence shows that it doesn't work; and it's a waste of government money; more money is spent on the death penalty than on the prisons themselves. I favor a balance between gun control and private-gun ownership; because we do need to have some oversight on crime, and allow people to buy guns in a safe, well-regulated society. And would like to see farm subsidies and corporate welfare ended; because that money should be spent on helping regular people in this country.
HEALTH CARE:
I do favor a public option; so that way there can some oversight on insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies; and I am against tax-payer dollars being spent on insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies.
